Leading property QC Jonathan Brock dies

Leading property QC Jonathan Brock died yesterday after a short illness, aged 54.

Educated at Corpus Christi College Cambridge and called to the Bar in 1977 he will be remembered as a Recorder, the Legal Church Commissioner, a Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn, a former Chairman of the London Common Law and Commercial Bar Association, a member of the General Management Committee of the Bar Council, and editor of the leading legal text in his field Woodfall on Landlord and Tenant.

The most recent Chambers and Partners Guide said: “In high-profile cases, the extremely intellectual Jonathan Brock QC stands out due to his highly effective and relentless style” who was “acknowledged for his meticulous research” and “judged to be second to none by many, he is characterised by gusto and has a robust style of advocacy that renders him a force of nature in the courtroom.”

Colleagues at Falcon Chambers said: “First and foremost, though, we will remember him as an outstanding advocate, a brilliant wit – and a delightful friend and colleague.

“He leaves a loving wife, Lindsey, and five children to whom he was devoted.”

A Service of Thanksgiving will be held in due course.
