The top two commercial property auction houses have strengthened their market dominance with significant sales growth in the first six months of this year.

Allsop and Acuitus now account for 84% of commercial property auction sales, up from their combined 75.2% market share at the same point in 2015.

Allsop continues to lead the table, raising £295.2m from 493 lots in the first half of 2016, a 67.3% increase in revenue from the same period in 2015.

Acuitus offered 244 lots and raised £178.7m – 55.8% more than in the first half of last year.

The total amount raised from 1,407 lots offered across 18 auctions was £564.5m – up by 45.8% from last year. The average lot size was £464,254 and the success rate was 86.4%.

Acuitus chairman Richard Auterac attributed the figures to improved supply and an influx of private investors and said they reflected the strength of the commercial market.
