The 23rd annual LandAid 10K, sponsored by Evans Randall Investors, saw more runners than ever pounding the paths of Regent’s Park on Wednesday evening.
Spurred on by the move back to Regent’s park and not put off by the rain, 760 property runners competed against each other and battled to beat their own personal bests.
Michael Wright of Watts Group won the men’s race in 31:12 minutes, while Liana Boholtan of Waterman took gold in the women’s race with a time of 36:43. The fastest 5K runner was Greg Snow of CLS Holdings, who completed the course in 19:09.
For the third year running Kent Gardner, chief executive at Evans Randall Investors, threw down the gauntlet to other senior property professionals, challenging them to join in the CEO challenge, of which James King of VTS was hailed CEO champion.
LandAid’s chief executive Paul Morrish and his daughter Charlie, 9, both competed in the 5K course, and finished in an incredible time of 46:30.
Rivalries were fierce in every age group, and Hermione Mackrill of LandSec was crowned fastest female over 45, with Arief Larham of Orion fastest in the male over-45 category.
Howard De Walden Estate raised a massive £3,870, and won the highest fundraising company accolade.
The property industry’s commitment and the efforts of all the runners who took part helped ensure LandAid is on track to raise more than £120,000 for youth homelessness.
All donations from this year’s LandAid 10K will go directly to projects across the country which are creating safe, secure and affordable housing for young homeless people. One of these projects is the Cardinal Hume Centre in London, where LandAid’s grant is helping refurbish a home for 32 young people. The residence will give vulnerable young people 24-hour support on-site, as well as providing English classes and a key support worker for each resident.
