Kirkland & Ellis circles Brookfield’s Leadenhall redevelopment

Kirkland & Ellis is in talks with Brookfield over a potential hefty prelet at its redevelopment of 1 Leadenhall, EC3.

The US law firm currently occupies 112,363 sq ft at the Safra-owned Gherkin, 30 St Mary Axe, EC3, according to Radius Data Exchange.

It is understood to be looking for more than 110,000 sq ft, but the discussions with Brookfield are at preliminary stages.

The firm may also remain at the Gherkin, where it has been based since 2005.

One Kirkland lawyer said: “We are considering 1 Leadenhall but we are not desperate as we could get a good deal here [at the Gherkin]. There’s the potential for more floors.”

Kirkland & Ellis is one of a raft of law firms looking at relocating in London, with White & Case and Skadden joining the pack hunting for new space.

Brookfield declined to comment. Kirkland & Ellis has been contacted for comment.
