The prized annual staff bonus at John Lewis Partnership was cut to 3% yesterday, its lowest since 1953, after underlying profits almost halved.
The retailer behind the Waitrose grocery chain and John Lewis department stores posted a 45.4% drop in profit to £160m before the bonus, tax and exceptional items were deducted.
Revenue rose 1% to £10.3bn in the year to January 26.
