JLL’s Raven quits London for Asia

David Raven, head of shopping centre investment at Jones Lang LaSalle, is leaving his London base to move to Asia.

Raven, who took charge of the shopping centre investment team in 2009 following the departure of Robin Coady, has been at JLL UK for 13 years.

He will relocate to Hong Kong to join its capital markets team and will take a lead role in growing a regional retail investment capability. He will work for JLL’s former head of the UK business Alastair Hughes, now chief executive of Asia Pacific.

Raven said: “I am extremely excited about taking on a new challenge in a rapidly evolving market, I hope to export the skills and experience I have built up in the UK and gain much experience and expertise from working in a new market.”

Adrian Peachey will now take on the role as head of shopping centre investment in addition to his current role as head of retail capital markets.

Raven is currently advising Royal London Asset Management, IBRC and Hammerson on their battle against Westfield to redevelop Croydon town centre.

He has also led a number of other high-profile deals including Lloyds Banking Group’s sale of 1m sq ft Silverburn shopping centre near Glasgow to Hammerson and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board for just less than £300m, and the break-up of David Ross’ Kandahar retail property empire.
