JLL has appointed PwC partner Stephanie Hyde as chief executive of its UK business, replacing Chris Ireland in the role.
Hyde, who is a senior client partner for JLL, will take up her new job in April this year and will become the first female to lead a major UK real estate consultancy.
She worked at PwC for 25 years and was promoted to partner in 2006. During her time at the firm she delivered growth across multiple business lines, developed client programmes both in the UK and globally, and ran PwC’s industry programme with a focus on technology, transformation and sustainability.
She previously led the UK regional business for PwC and has been a member of the firm’s global leadership team and UK executive board.
Hyde has worked with clients across a wide range of sectors, including energy, pharmaceuticals, the public sector and consumer products.
As JLL’s UK chairman, Ireland will support Hyde’s transition into the new role and the UK client teams dealing with both investors and occupiers.
Ireland became the agent’s UK chief executive in 2016. Under his tenure JLL has grown its transactional markets business and expanded its functions to include sustainability services and ESG, debt advisory and life sciences.
Andy Poppink, chief executive of EMEA markets at JLL, said: “[Hyde’s] experience in driving growth and transformation strategies for large businesses and leading diverse teams will be invaluable to our clients and people.
“Chris Ireland’s leadership over the last five years has been instrumental to the growth and transformation of JLL in the UK. The UK is a key strategic market and Chris will play an important part in its continued success as he helps us ensure a smooth transition.”
Hyde said: “The business community is looking to the real estate industry to help them solve critical questions on sustainability, quality of living and working environments. There is huge opportunity for JLL to be at the forefront of these conversations with investors and corporates.”
Ireland said Hyde’s key attributes include “the ability to understand client priorities and bring teams together to respond behind common goals”.
He added: “Having someone from outside the real estate industry will provide a fresh perspective as we focus on harnessing technology to partner with clients.”
