SGS Group has signed a deal with retailer JD Sports to upsize its stores at Lakeside in Essex and Atria Watford in Hertfordshire.
At Atria Watford, JD will be expanding its store size to 13,500 sq ft in a newly upgraded location, scheduled to open next year.
In the meantime, a temporary store has been set up in the Upper Mall so the retailer can continue to operate while the new store is being developed.
At Lakeside, two smaller JD stores, of 5,000 sq ft and 10,000 sq ft, will be merged into one large 33,000 sq ft flagship store on the Central Lower Mall. The new store will open in summer 2025.
James Air, director of group acquisitions at JD Sports Fashion, said: “We are continuously looking at ways we can improve our offer, and both stores have performed exceptionally well year-on-year. This decision to upgrade is integral to the continued success of these locations.”
