Islington Square secures Maggie & Rose prelet

The joint venture between Cain International and Sager Group has signed private family members’ club Maggie & Rose for its £400m Islington Square development, N1.

Maggie & Rose, which is a luxury members’ club for children and their parents, has agreed a 20-year lease for an 11,500 sq ft space.

The site will additionally feature an “innovative nursery” for children aged one to five, a restaurant and a café, as well as retail and event spaces.

More than 65% of the mixed-use development, which will complete construction next year, is now either prelet or in solicitors’ hands.

A total of 25,300 sq ft has been let in the past six months. The tenant line-up also includes fashion brand Cos, vegan restaurant OmNom, gym operator Third Space and an Odeon cinema.

Maggie & Rose also operates clubs in Kensington and Chiswick

Richard Pilkington, managing principal at Cain International, said: “We are about to embark on a decisive period in Islington Square’s development, as we welcome more and more brands to this unique north London destination.

“This vital stage will focus primarily on a comprehensive retail leasing campaign aimed at attracting exciting retailers in line with the tastes of the discerning Islington catchment.”

Islington Square is a former north London Royal Mail sorting and delivery centre. It will deliver 170,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, 263 high-quality homes and 108 serviced apartments.

Developer Galliard is overseeing the residential aspect. CBRE has been appointed to act as property and estate manager, while Citadines will operate the 108 serviced apartments. Peabody will run the affordable housing provision.

Thomas Pain & Company acted for Maggie & Rose, which also has clubs in Kensington and Chiswick.
