Inside Birmingham’s Grand Central

Grand-Central-BirminghamVIDEO: Birmingham’s Grand Central retail scheme is only months away from opening.

Estates Gazette has had an exclusive look inside the £600m redevelopment of New Street Station ahead of completion in September.

Grand Central, above the station, will bring 40 new premium stores and 20 cafés and restaurants to the city. The scheme is anchored by a full-line 250,000 sq ft John Lewis.

“In terms of take-up, we’re 90% let,” said Richard Brown, Grand Central development director.

“We’re focussing on three or four units now that are not yet committed, but between now and opening I would expect there to be some more momentum, and would hope to make some more announcements nearer to the opening date.”

Retailers already signed to the 500,000 sq ft scheme include White Company, Cath Kidston, Fat Face, Kiehls and L’Occitane.

New names to Birmingham are Tapas Revolution, Caffe Concerto, Pho, Tortilla and Crepe Affaire.
