Hundreds race in first Triathlon North

Property-Tri-North-THUMBVIDEO: Paul Horsfall of Hydrock and Brown Jacobson’s Kirsten Walters took the top honours in the first JLL Property Triathlon North on Friday.

Horsfall took the men’s trophy with a time of 59:26, while Walters won the women’s competition at 1:15:29.

The inaugural North event attracted 700 competitors to Peel Holdings’ MediaCityUK in Salford.

The sprint triathlon included a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.

Competitors helped raise more than £22,000 for two charities: Starlight and The Christie Charitable Fund.

JLL UK chief executive Guy Grainger said: “The atmosphere was brilliant. It’s very different to Dorney Lake (where the established Property Triathlon is held).

“It’s great to be up here in Manchester, and what a great setting at MediaCity in Salford. It feels more urban, a bit more buzzy and dynamic and they’re definitely making a good fist of it up here.”

Peel Land & Property development director James Whittaker said: “It’s been a brilliant success. To get 700 people doing it in the first year is great.”
