HS2 has released new designs for its net-zero-carbon stations at Birmingham’s Curzon Street and Interchange in Solihull.
The proposals have been released ahead of a planning application to Birmingham City Council.
The eco-friendly plans will maximise natural light, and include rainwater collection and sustainable power generation.
Curzon Street
Curzon Street will retain the historic Old Curzon Street building, which will connect to the eastern concourse, with the Midland Metro running underneath the station. Solihull’s Interchange will incorporate onsite solar panels, a green sunken garden and a driverless people mover system.
HS2 is working with WSP and Grimshaw Architects at Curzon Street station, and with Arup at Birmingham Interchange.
