Howard de Walden Estate appoints new head of investment

The Howard de Walden Estate has appointed David McArthur as its new head of investment.

He will succeed Julian Best in the role, who is to become the estate’s executive property director when Simon Baynham retires at the end of September.

McArthur worked at Savills for more than four years within the City and European investment teams, advising on the acquisition and disposal of commercial real estate.

Prior to joining Savills in June 2016, McArthur spent more than six years as an investment surveyor with Deloitte. He joined the professional services firm in 2010 when it acquired Drivers Jonas, where he had been an investment specialist for nearly six years.

“David has more than a decade’s experience of working in the central London investment market, and is ideal for a role which entails enhancing the business’s retail and leisure, office, medical, residential and educational assets through further strategic acquisitions, disposals and development,” Best said.

McArthur will join the Estate, which owns 92 acres across Marylebone with assets worth more than £4.6bn, on 21 September.
