Brexit uncertainty has been blamed for a lacklustre start to the spring house-selling season with the average asking price of homes coming to the market rising by 0.4% this month.
Research by Rightmove, the property website, said that the £1,287 increase in asking prices was the lowest average monthly rise at this time of year since 2011, mostly because of London.
Prices were “more buoyant” outside the capital, with nine out of eleven regions recording an increase. In the past seven years the average rise in asking price at this time of year was 0.9%.
