Hollister close to nabbing Regent Street store

Fashion retailer Hollister is in advanced discussions to occupy National Geographic’s store at 83-97 Regent Street, W1.

If the deal goes through, it will be Hollister’s first central London store.

Hollister will have beaten off stiff competition from rivals, including Superdry, to take the Crown Estate’s 20,000 sq ft three-storey shop.

It is understood to have offred to pay a hefty premium for the lease, which has around 10 years unexpired.

It is thought Hollister hopes to open the shop in time for the London 2012 Olympics.

National Geographic opened its first store in the world on Regent Street in November 2008. The letting was the second-highest rent on Regent Street at the time, after Apple.

CB Richard Ellis advises the Crown Estate; Capita Symonds acts for Hollister.

All parties declined to comment.
