HelioSlough has won its High Court bid to have secretary of state for Communities & Local Government Eric Pickles’ decision to refuse permission for its £250m Strategic Rail Freight Interchange on the site of the former Radlett Aerodrome in Hertfordshire thrown out.
Deputy Judge Milwyn Jarman quashed Pickles’ decision to reject the plans for the 3.5m sq ft development and ordered the government to reconsider the proposal for what will be the third time.
However, lawyers for the secretary of state, St Albans city council, Goodman – the proponent of a rival scheme at Colnbrook – and local campaign group STRiFE are to submit written representations seeking permission to appeal by 8 July.
If the judge refuses permission, they are likely to seek to take the case to the Court of Appeal.
