Henry Boot gains consent for Somerset mixed-use scheme

Henry Boot has gained consent for a mixed-use scheme featuring an 800,000 sq ft Morrisons distribution hub and 2,000 homes in Bridgwater, Somerset.

Hallam Land Management, the strategic land arm of Henry Boot, has gained consent for up to 1.3m sq ft of employment floorspace, including an 800,000 sq ft regional distribution hub for Wm Morrison Supermarket, a commercial services centre to provide local retail opportunities, up to 2,000 homes, a primary school, improvements in recreational facilities and substantial enhancements to the local transport and green infrastructure.

The 110ha site, comprising part brownfield and part greenfield land, is located adjacent to the M5 and is a key element of the Bridgwater Challenge initiative to revitalise the economic fortunes of the town.

Jamie Boot, group managing director, said: “We are very pleased to have secured planning permission on this scale and to now be able to proceed with this major development at Bridgwater.”
