Head of real estate steps up as Mapeley CEO exits

Mapeley chief executive Nick Friedlos is leaving the property outsourcing company and will be replaced by its current head of real estate, Mark Smith.

A statement from the Fortress Investment-owned group said Friedlos, who joined the firm in June 2008 from Derwent London, will be leaving on 19 January to pursue new opportunities.

It added that Smith, who has been with Mapeley for more than eight years – most recently as head of real estate – “brings considerable experience to the role and places the business in an excellent position to drive value from its real estate portfolio going forward”.

Chairman Wes Edens said: “Mapeley is one of the few full-service real estate companies in the UK and is well positioned to capitalise on the rapidly changing commercial property market. We are optimistic for the future prospects of the business and strongly support Mark to guide the business through the next stage of its development.

“The board would like to take this opportunity to thank Nick for the invaluable contribution he has made to the business in the past two years, guiding Mapeley through a particularly challenging environment. We wish Nick all the best with his future endeavours.”
