Harper Dennis Hobbs exits mount as executive director departs

Harper Dennis Hobbs executive director Marinus Schouten has left the business to start up his own agency.

Schouten (pictured) worked at Harper Dennis Hobbs for 13 years, advising clients across Europe. Before that, he was an associate at Cushman & Wakefield.

His new advisory firm, called Shout Retail Properties, is based in the Netherlands. His clients include Esprit, Dyson and Joe & The Juice.

James Ebel, chief executive of HDH, said: “We would like to thank Marinus for his time working at Harper Dennis Hobbs, and we wish him all the best in the future.”

Fellow executive director Jonathan De Mello has also left Harper Dennis Hobbs, as revealed by EG last week.

De Mello, who was head of retail consultancy at the firm, is understood to be on gardening leave and set to join a rival property firm soon.

The departures come after HDH’s four-strong leisure team left last year to start up a new niche agency, Etch.

This comprised three former HDH directors – Charlie Catterall, Richard Willcox and Kit Alexander – and a surveyor, Dan Hull-Sieff.

US advisory firm Newmark Group acquired HDH in December last year.
