MIPIM 2016: A long list of six partners for a £2bn regeneration vehicle to transform north London’s Haringey was announced at MIPIM today.
Galliford Try with Home Group, Lend Lease, Morgan Sindall with Circle and Affinity Sutton, Pinnacle with Starwood Capital and Catalyst Capital, Places for People and Urban & Civic have all made the long list for the vehicle which has the aim of delivering more than £2bn of development across the borough.
The Haringey Development Vehicle will be a 50/50 partnership taking on scores of sites across Haringey, including the Wood Green Estate, Haringey Civic Centre, Station Road Offices, Northumberland Park Regeneration Area and a commercial portfolio comprising some 146 assets. It has the aim of creating at least 5,000 new homes, a new town centre and thousands more jobs over the next 15-20 years.
The bidders are hoping to tap into Haringey’s unrivalled investment and development opportunities, supported by major improvements to transport with the potential for four Crossrail 2 stations.
The list was announced by cabinet member for housing and regeneration, councillor Alan Strickland.
The leader of Haringey council, Claire Kober said: “This is an important step towards helping us deliver one of the largest regeneration programmes in the UK. Last month an independent report found Haringey is set to see the fastest jobs growth in London over next 20 years, ahead of Westminster and the City of London. Haringey is the future of London and one of these potential partners will play a big part in helping realise our ambitions for residents and businesses.”
Turnberry Real Estate and Bilfinger GVA are advising the council. A short list will be announced in July with a preferred partner expected to be secured by the end of the year or early in 2017.
Haringey council will launch a separate search for a joint venture partner to bring forward the redevelopment of its High Road West estate. The council estate, opposite Tottenham Hotspur stadium, currently comprises 300 homes. An Arup-designed masterplan for the site, which proposes the building of 1,500 new homes, has already been agreed. The opportunity is set to be published through OJEU in May.
