Hammerson on top of Victoria Gate

LISTEN: Hammerson has handed over John Lewis’ new department store for fitting out in its £165m Victoria Gate scheme in Leeds ahead of an opening in October.

Speaking on the roof of the 575,000 sq ft shopping centre, development manager James Hepburn said  68.2% of the space is in legal negotiations or under offer, with another five or six units close to moving into legals.

The scheme has attracted new occupiers for the city.

“Certainly there are new names for Leeds, new names for the Hammerson portfolio and new names for the north of England outside London. We have signed up the White Company, Cos, & Other Stories, Maje the French brand and D& D restaurants are coming forward just to name a few,” said Hepburn.
