Hammerson names former Ivanhoé Cambridge boss next CEO

Hammerson has named Rita-Rose Gagné, formerly president of growth markets at Ivanhoé Cambridge, as its next chief executive.

Tasked with leading the shopping centre owner out of the coronavirus crisis, Gagné acknowledged that “the retail and real estate sectors are going through a period of unprecedented change”, but added: “I look forward to working with Hammerson’s experienced team and all its stakeholders to both navigate through the challenges but also seek out the opportunities to create value moving forward.”

Gagné is expected to join the company before the end of the year on a salary of £672,000, replacing David Atkins.

At Ivanhoé Cambridge, Gagné oversaw $7.6bn of real estate assets across Asia Pacific and Latin America. The role was her most recent since joining the company in 2006.

Hammerson chairman Robert Noel described Gagné as having “an excellent track record in international real estate investment, building high-quality teams, developing strategic partnerships, execution and delivering results.”
