Grosvenor’s Craig McWilliam re-emerges with NHS role

Craig McWilliam, the former chief executive of Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, has taken a new role helping to drive the building of new hospitals.

McWilliam has been appointed as programme director for the new hospitals programme run by the NHS and the Department of Health and Social Care, as well as capacity delivery director at NHS England.

The government’s £3.7bn initiative is set to see 40 new hospitals built by 2030. McWilliam told EG the project is “one of the largest initiatives in health infrastructure in decades”.

McWilliam joined the board of Grosvenor’s UK business in 2010, overseeing the London estate and then becoming chief executive in 2017.

He was expected to replace Mark Preston as group chief executive from the end of this year but left the group in January. James Raynor, chief executive of Grosvenor’s European division, took McWilliam’s place as head of the Britain and Ireland business.
