Greystar gets green light for 800-home Croydon scheme

Greystar has received planning approval to develop an 806-home build-to-rent scheme in Croydon, south London.

One Lansdowne Road will comprise two buildings of 31 and 50 storeys, a public green square, flexible workspace and a shop.

Of the homes, 690 will be at market rent, 81 at discounted market rent and 35 at London living rent.

Designed by HTA Design, the new scheme brings to an end long-stalled plans to redevelop the site close to East Croydon train station.

The previous £500m plans by Guildhouse Rosepride comprised two towers of 68 and 41 storeys, one residential, one commercial, linked by an 11-storey podium. Consent was granted in 2017 but lapsed in 2021.

Greystar acquired the site in 2022. The developer initially filed plans with Croydon Council in July 2023 for a 783-home BTR scheme but revised it in September
