Plans to expand a major Oxford business park have been given the green light.
Vale of White Horse District Council’s planning committee has approved the £40m plans to develop 220,000 sq ft of business space at the Grove Business Park in Wantage.
Work is also due to start immediately on more than 20 business space units.
David Williams, partner at Bidwells, agents for the park, said: “It is not overstating the point that the hundreds, if not thousands, of new jobs that will be created on the park will secure the future economic growth of the Wantage area, alongside the new housing being built.”
Tim Parr of Parker Parr agents, said: “Grove Business Park already has a rich and diverse mix of over 60 businesses ranging from start-ups to large manufacturing companies, and this is a very viable option for a company to relocate to.”
The new owners, Grove Business Park Ltd, bought the site earlier this year and have refurbished and let 10,000 sq ft of grade A office space to IT and biotech companies.
Work is also underway on the refurbishment of a serviced office at Boston House Business Centre, due to complete in April 2017.
Grove Business Park is also in discussions with national nursery operator to open an 80-place nursery and crèche on site.
Grove Business Park is set in 32 acres of land, and offers existing office, laboratory, warehousing and storage spaces as well as new build opportunities.
It is also part of Science Vale UK, a global hub for enterprise and innovation in science.
Parker Parr and Bidwells are joint agents on the scheme.
Walsham Planning advised Grove Business Park Limited on the application.
