Green light for final piece of Liverpool’s troubled Fox Street scheme

The transformation of the part-built development on Fox Street in Liverpool into student homes has been cleared to go ahead. Altrincham-based developer SGL1 took over block D in late 2020 following the collapse of original developer Primesite. The site forms part of a larger residential-led scheme comprising five buildings. Primesite’s plans for the wider site, approved by the local council in 2015, featured 400 homes across the five blocks. Blocks A, B, C and E have already been delivered, providing 220 homes. The remaining block D was expected to create a further 180 homes but SGL1 reworked the proposals in late 2022 to focus on PBSA, seeking to deliver 138 student bedrooms alongside 1,500 sq ft of commercial space.
