Green light for final piece of Liverpool’s troubled Fox Street scheme

The transformation of the part-built development on Fox Street in Liverpool into student homes has been cleared to go ahead.

Altrincham-based developer SGL1 took over block D in late 2020 following the collapse of original developer Primesite. The site forms part of a larger residential-led scheme comprising five buildings.

Primesite’s plans for the wider site, approved by the local council in 2015, featured 400 homes across the five blocks. Blocks A, B, C and E have already been delivered, providing 220 homes.

The remaining block D was expected to create a further 180 homes but SGL1 reworked the proposals in late 2022 to focus on PBSA, seeking to deliver 138 student bedrooms alongside 1,500 sq ft of commercial space.

The updated designs were created by the Keith Davidson Partnership, with Zerum advising SGL1 on planning matters.
