A £350m Bradford regeneration scheme has just been given the go-ahead by the Department of Communities and Local Government.
The Channel is one of four schemes included in the Will Alsop-designed masterplan which aims to regenerate the wider Bradford area.
The 5.3-hectare mixed-use scheme includes two towers of 16 and 24-storeys which will comprise office and flats, alongside cafes, bars and exhibition areas.
The design also provides links to existing facilities within the city, such as Forster Square Station, the Broadway Shopping Mall and the Little Germany residential and office community.
Bradford Channel Limited, (BCL), the consortium behind the £350m scheme headed by Harold Robinson’s Bradford-based Magellan Properties, is working in conjunction with Bradford Centre Regeneration.
The consortium has started on detailed plans for the first buildings and aims to begin work early next year.
Robinson said: “We are now under starter’s orders and have the all clear to move forward. After years of negotiations and planning it is a very exciting time for us and for the city of Bradford.
“We say our aim is to create a living, breathing urban village where real people can make a home, earn a living and have fun.
