The late Earl Mountbatten’s grandson, Michael-John Knatchbull, is being sued in a dispute over an unpaid estate agent’s bill of more than £44,000.
Estate agent John D Wood is suing film producer Mr Knatchbull, of Quarrington Farm, West Brabourne, Ashford, Kent, for commission that it alleges remains outstanding after it sold his London property for £1.5m.
The claim, issued at Londons High Court and just made publicly available, says that Mr Knatchbull appointed the company as sole agent to sell the property at 1 Horbury Mews, London W11, and had agreed to pay the commission of 2.5%.
John D Wood claims that it had marketed the property, arranged 27 viewings, and advertised in the local and national press.
Mr Knatchbull sold the property in August 2001 at the asking price, and completion took place in October 2001.
John D Wood says that it introduced the buyer, Halinda Holding Ltd, and is therefore entitled to the contractually agreed commission of £44,062.50, which, it claims, Mr Knatchbull has refused to pay.
The claimant is also suing for interest of £715.89, and continuing interest of £10.56 per day.
