Glasgow hosts first EG Question Time of 2017

stephen-lewis-thumbIndustry heavyweights in Glasgow will debate the outlook for the city in Estates Gazette’s first Question Time debate of 2017.

Confirmed for the debate is Stephen Lewis, managing director of HFD Property Group (pictured), whose 150,000 sq ft prelet to Morgan Stanley at 122 Waterloo Street in March was one of the city’s largest occupational deals of the decade.

He will be joined by Paul Curran, the newly appointed chairman of the Scottish Property Federation and managing director of Edinburgh-based Quartermile Developments, and Bruce Patrick, Savills’ director of UK investments.

Other speakers will be announced soon.

The free debate comes as Glasgow experiences one of its longest pauses in significant speculative office development, and also as the business community braces for the implications of a Brexit deal, including a possible second referendum on Scottish independence.

A review of the business rates system, and the Government Property Unit requirement for a 200,000 sq ft regional HMRC hub, are also key topics that will be discussed.

Glasgow Question Time takes place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday 12 January, from 5.30pm.
