A plan to transform a former job centre into 113 build-to-rent flats is set to be recommended for approval despite more than 80 objections.
Calmont Ventures and M&M Anniesland plan to transform a circa 1.2-acre vacant site in Glasgow’s Anniesland town centre into a residential scheme. The site, on Herschell Street, previously contained a four-storey, 1970s office building that had been used as a job centre. The property was demolished in 2021.
Previous plans to build 48 flats on the site got the go ahead, but were never implemented.
Now, the owners are seeking to build two seven-storey blocks providing 113 BTR flats. The two blocks will provide a mix of one- and two-bedroom flats, plus co-working space and a gym.
Objections to the scheme have been based around a lack of affordable housing and children’s play area, the impact on local house prices and the size, scale, density and overdevelopment of the site.
Iceni Projects is advising on the plans; Elder and Cannon Architects designed the scheme.
