Get Living submits plans for £180m Leeds BTR scheme

Get Living has submitted plans for its £180m built-to-rent scheme in the South Bank area of Leeds city centre.

It has proposed 780 homes in a new five-acre neighbourhood on Globe Road. The housing comprises a mix of studios, one, two and three-bedroom flats and family townhouses.

The application supersedes the lapsed planning consent granted. The new design comprises eight towers built around public realm intended to open up the canalside area.

It includes a new pavillion, dubbed the Hub, that will sit on the waterfront, to the east of the site. This building will incorporate ground-floor restaurant space, with co-working space above, designed for small businesses and start-ups.

Designed by Sheppard Robson, the scheme also includes private gardens, retail units and a gym, with communal first-floor terraces.

Rick de Blaby, executive chairman at Get Living, said: “Our role will see us working alongside the council and its own ambitious plans for the city, alongside businesses that need to recruit and retain staff and most importantly for the people of Leeds to deliver great homes set within new public spaces.”

Get Living’s investors acquired the site in June 2017 as its first investment in Yorkshire and third outside of London.

Subject to consent, work on site will start in late 2019.

The development is adjacent to CEG’s £350m mixed-use scheme, which includes 750 flats and neighbours the Richardsons’ 160-flat scheme at Tower Works and L&G’s 250-flat scheme at Mustard Wharf.

As a whole, the South Bank area has the capacity for more than 4,000 new homes and commercial development to create 35,000 new jobs in Leeds.
