Gerald Eve head of business rates Simon Green has been made national president of the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation for 2024/25.
It is a step up for Green, who has just spent a year as senior vice-president on the IRRV national council. He has worked in business rates for more than 30 years and has previously called for reform of the rating system so businesses can operate more competitively.
The IRRV is the professional body for local taxation, benefits and valuation, aiming to promote best practice and offer support to its 2,400 members.
Green said: “I am very much looking forward to taking over as national president of the IRRV for 2024/25 and, with the new government’s first Budget due at the end of the month, I am sure this is going to be another very busy year.
“Thank you to the outgoing president, Nick Rowe – he has dedicated a huge amount of time and effort to the role, and it has been a pleasure to work alongside him this last year.”
