GDS takes 55,000 sq ft at White Chapel Building

Whitechapel-scheme-THUMBDerwent London has prelet the top two floors at The White Chapel Building, E1, to Government Digital Service.

GDS will take 54,700 sq ft on a 10-year lease with a break in year five at a rent of £2.8m per annum, or £52 per sq ft. The rent-free period is eight months, rising to 18 if no breaks are exercised.

Derwent has now let three quarters of the building. In July 2016, it announced the first prelettings of phase one, and over 80% of lettings have been signed since the referendum. Rents now total £6.8m pa.

Derwent bought the building with vacant possession in December 2015 and the first phase of the refurbishment is due for completion in Q4 2016. This phase totals 185,000 sq ft of offices; phase two will consist of another 85,000 sq ft.
