Forsters has joined the growing list of law firms to confirm new headquarters, revealing plans to bring staff from across its four London sites together in a new Marylebone office.
The firm, which specialises in serving real estate and private wealth clients, has taken a 15-year lease on 50,000 sq ft at Lazari Investments’ 22 Baker Street, W1 (pictured). It will move in late 2023 after existing tenant Fujitsu, the Japanese technology group, moves to Lazari’s upcoming Lantern scheme in Euston.
The move will see Forsters’ 500-strong workforce exit four existing London offices, including its headquarters at 31 Hill Street, W1. The firm will also vacate space at 22 Hill Street and Berkeley Square House, before finally leaving space at South Quay Plaza in Canary Wharf in 2025.
Emily Exton, Forsters’ managing partner, said: “The firm has enjoyed a period of sustained growth over the past five years. Our collaborative and collegiate working culture underpins our success. The move to a single site can only serve to enhance this success, as well as the sense of belonging and commitment to our organisation which we seek to promote.”
Lazari bought 22 Baker Street for £123m from the Loftus Family Trust back in 2017. The building will now undergo a refurbishment ahead of Forsters moving in.
Glenn Dunn, head of the corporate occupier group in Forsters’ real estate team, who led negotiations, said the firm has worked with Lazari on several leasing deals over the past two decades. “This experience has been a significant factor in our decision to enter into a long-term lease commitment at 22 Baker Street,” he added. “We are excited at becoming a Lazari client and look forward to developing this relationship over the next 15 years.”
CBRE advised Forsters.
