Two former fund managers from Kames Capital have teamed up to launch their own property asset management firm, focusing on value-add deals.
David Wise and Philip Bach have set up Active Value Capital, which will focus on off-market transactions. The directors say they can target growing value in such deals while “the herd” focuses on prime properties and defensive assets.
“We see great opportunities in the under-researched £5m-20m end of the market, particularly where there is the potential to add value through active management,” Wise told EG.
Wise founded Kames Capital’s property division in 2007 and was head of its direct property team, overseeing investment and equity raising. He left the firm earlier in the summer.
Bach spent seven years at Kames, leaving in January. He was head of active value property for the firm, as well as setting up and managing the Kames Active Value Property Unit Trusts I & II.
