Property in England and Wales worth more than £100bn is owned by anonymous companies registered in tax havens, according to an analysis of Land Registry data.
About 40% of the 87,000 properties are in London, including 134 in Cadogan Square, Knightsbridge, where the average property costs £3m.
Global Witness, an anti-corruption campaign group, is publishing the analysis today and is giving evidence this afternoon to a parliamentary committee reviewing a draft bill that could require owners to be identified.
