Patrick Nelson, the former head of international real estate at co-working company WeWork, has taken a new role helping a Dutch hospitality group break into the London market.
Nelson is joining the growth and innovation team at Zoku, according to a social media post from the company. The eight-year-old business pitches its properties in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Paris and Vienna as long-stay “hybrid hotels”, with accommodation but also co-working space and meeting rooms.
The former WeWork boss will help the business make “its next big leap in London”, Zoku said.
In his own post, Nelson said he would be helping Zoku target London for new opportunities, describing the business as “a beautiful concept, brand, product and operation” and offering “a glimpse of what the future of real estate looks like”.
Nelson joined WeWork as vice-president of real estate in 2013 from CBRE. In 2016, he was named head of EMEA real estate and in August 2020 he became head of international real estate. By the time his departure was revealed in 2022, he had helped the EMEA business grow to 324 sites in 48 markets.
Since leaving the company he has been running Almira, his own workplace consultancy.
