Ex-JLL director to drive Crown Estate’s net zero plans

The Crown Estate has hired a former JLL director to help drive the net zero carbon strategy across its business.

Rachael Sherratt has been on secondment with the estate since May as net zero programme director, working on its plans to be net zero carbon across its portfolio by 2030. She has now taken a full-time role at the estate as net zero transformation director, reporting to head of sustainability  Anna Swaithes.

Sherratt joined JLL in 2018 as a Bristol-based associate in the project management and net zero design consulting team, becoming a director in the division in October last year.

Earlier in her career she worked for architecture firms Noma Architects, Verity & Beverley and Stride Treglown.

Sherratt said: “The Crown Estate has a unique portfolio, with a number of heritage buildings, and having started my career in an architectural firm, it is fantastic to be now working with the wider business to look at how we can sensitively transform those buildings, to ensure they are fit for another 100 years, while also ensuring we are embedding net zero into everything we do and exploring creative solutions to how we can contribute to the UK’s green agenda.”
