Ex-George Harrison home sells at 56% above asking

George-HarrisonAUCTIONS: The Merseyside childhood home of Beatles legend George Harrison has sold for £156,000 – 56% above the guide price.

A private Liverpool-based investor sold three-bedroom 25 Upton Green to an avid Beatles fan called Jackie Holmes.

The £100,000 guide price set by Countrywide Property Auctions was beaten following competition from a US bidder and an investor from Liechtenstein.

The Harrison family moved into the then-council house in Speke in 1950 when George was six years old, and he lived there for 12 years.

This is the second Beatles home to go on the market in the past 12 months after John Lennon’s former Liverpool home sold for £480,000 in November 2013.

The auction took place on 20 October at Liverpool’s Cavern Club.
