Ex-Bruntwood SciTech operations boss to lead Placefirst expansion

Build-to-rent developer-operator Placefirst has appointed Mark Hawley to the newly-created role of operations director.

Hawley joins from Bruntwood SciTech, a jv between Bruntwood, Legal & General and Greater Manchester Pension Fund, where he led the mobilisation of the firm’s largest developments and acquisitions.

At Placefirst, Hawley will be tasked with driving innovation and efficiency in company operations as the company continues to grow and increase its portfolio across the UK.

In 2025, Placefirst is set to complete five new developments, welcoming an additional 678 residents to their neighbourhoods – up 30% on the last year.

David Mawson, chief executive at Placefirst, said: “Placefirst has seen growth in recent years. As we continue our transition from being a regional developer to establishing a nationwide presence, expanding our senior leadership team and refining our internal operations is essential.

“Mark’s proven expertise in scaling operations across both development and acquisitions will be key in ensuring we continue to grow efficiently while maintaining the quality of service our residents expect.”
