A summer downpour in the City dried up just in time for Broadgate to showcase some of the best track cycling in the world. Members of the public were invited to cycle around a pop-up velodrome in Exchange Square, EC2, on 13 August, ahead of a televised final of the Asda StreetVelodrome Series in the evening.

Crowds gathered alongside the track marvelled at the speed of the likes of Olympic track medallist Craig Maclean, who was pipped at the post by Dave Johnson from the Quella Team in the men’s professional race.

Jess Stone from the Cycleguard Team beat TV presenter and accomplished cyclist Anna Glowinski in the final of the women’s professionals, while the overall series team winner was Quella.

Scotland’s agents fight it out for league’s top spot

EG’s most active agents in Scotland have been announced. Based on deals transacted from 1 August 2014 to 31 July 2015, Ryden topped the East Scotland region (excluding Edinburgh), beating Shepherd Commercial and Graham & Sibbald in second and third respectively, while Jonathan Reid of Shepherd won the Dealmaker award.

Shepherd also came up trumps in the West Scotland region (excluding Glasgow); Graham & Sibbald was runner up, with JLL in third place. Shepherd had another Dealmaker winner in this region, with Patrick Cairney. In the Highlands Graham & Sibbald dominated, while Shepherd and Ryden came in behind. Neil Calder was the Dealmaker winner, sealing a banner year for Shepherd.

Surveyors slog it out for King Cup win

The West End Wide Boys triumphed on the cricket pitch in a gripping final at the chartered surveyors King Cup. The team, made up of small consultancies including Levy and Doherty Baines, snatched a win by just 28 runs from Berkeley Homes to retain the trophy at the 6 August event, played at the Bank of England sports centre, Roehampton, SW15.

Savills’ Ed Gee and Duncan Knight claimed victory in this year’s Industrial and Office Agents Society annual tennis tournament. The pair, from the agency’s Peterborough office, toppled title defenders Alex Stevens and Tim Edwards, of GVA and Bloomberg respectively, to clinch the win in the men’s doubles competition, played at Virgin Active Northwood on 6 August.
