EGTV pre-election special: Leeds agents call for public sector relocation

Agents in Leeds have called for the government to move public sector workers to Yorkshire and stimulate the local office market.

In the second of EGTV’s pre-election reports, cllr Andrew Carter, leader of the city council, said that the council was progressing with its plans to consolidate its offices in a 130,000 sq ft requirement.

The Conservative leader, who is running for re-election on 6 May, said they were planning to make an announcement soon over the chosen location.

However, agents said that the local council needed to do more to stimulate the local economy, although welcomed the appointment of Tom Riordan as the new council chief executive.

Tomorrow EGTV reports from Birmingham for the penultimate day of the election campaign.
