EGTV: Liverpool office take-up to halve in 2010

Office take-up in Liverpool this year is likely to reach only half of 2009’s total of 520,000 sq ft which was boosted by two major public sector lettings, Merseyside agents have told EGTV.

Speaking at EG’s Liverpool Focus reception at the city’s Racquet Club, Merseyside’s property professionals admitted that times are tough, but that there are signs of increased interest in the city from both occupiers and investors.

EG editor Damian Wild addressed those gathered for the annual event and, referring to last week’s change of regime at Liverpool council, remarked that it is unusual to be in a city which has turned back to Labour while most of the country has turned away from it.

EGTV also visited the sites of English Cities Funds’ 4 St Paul’s Square and Neptune Developments’ and Countryside Properties’ Mann Island, and discussed progress on the respective schemes with ECF’s Darran Lawless and Neptune’s Steve Parry.

EG’s Merseyside Focus will be published on 26 June.
