Landsec is considering a move into operational residential as it secures a pipeline of more than 6,000 homes. Chief executive Mark Allan told EG: “We’ve had to be patient to get to where we are. We will make the decision on how we deliver them going forward in the next financial year, but I would like to think that we will have a meaningful operational component and investment in residential in five years’ time.”

British Land chief executive Simon Carter has said the REIT’s focus on retail parks “is paying off”, as the asset class grows to a third of its portfolio. The subsector was the only one to post valuation growth over the six months to 30 September, at 5.1%, with campuses down by 1.7% and London urban logistics down by 2.6%.

A man who was sacked by Savills for posting a racist tweet following England’s defeat in the Euro 2020 final has pleaded guilty to the offence at Manchester City Magistrates Court. Andrew Bone, who worked for Savills as a commercial building manager, will be sentenced in February.
