EG Events: President makes his sails pitch

Bristol There was a nautical theme as Chris Haworth passed the helm at the BPAA dinner

Bristol’s property fraternity packed out the Wessex Suite at the city’s Thistle Hotel for their annual Bristol Property Agents Association dinner. Around 450 saw outgoing president Chris Haworth, of Alder King, hand the chain of office to Hartnell Taylor Cook’s Andrew Batchelor.

As outgoing president, Haworth got to choose the after-dinner speaker, and his love of sailing was evident in his choice of round-the-world yachtsman Pete Goss MBE.

With the wine flowing freely, the audience was captivated by tales of derring-do on the high seas, complete with slide show.

But if the assembled guests expected simply to see a series of picturesque shots of yachts riding stormy waves, they were in for a rude surprise. Among the collection were images of some of the “sporting injuries” suffered by Goss and his crews.

Fortunately, the squeamish were in the minority, and any queasiness was absent as guests carried the party on into the early hours.
