Edinburgh’s Atria scheme launches

Edinburgh City Council launched its 200,000 sq ft Atria office development in the city last night.

Estates Gazette was given an exclusive pre-event tour.

Atria Edinburgh is one of only two large-scale office developments to be speculatively built outside London post credit crunch.

The council saw an opportunity to build Atria One at the same time as an expansion of conference space at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre next door.

“The construction of the offices was really a window of opportunity for the council to create Grade A offices in a prime location that would cross-subsidise the cost of the additional function space with the value created through the leasing of the offices,” said the council’s head of estates, Peter Watton.

Atria One is partially prelet to the Green Investment Bank and investment management firm Brewin Dolphin who have taken 12,000 sq ft and 42,000 sq ft respectively.
Accountancy giant PwC is also believed to be under offer for 32,000 sq ft
within the building.
