Eddisons’ 50% success rate ‘disappointing’

Eddisons-THUMB.jpegEddisons has reported a “disappointing” 50% success rate for its latest sale, despite significant pre-auction interest and a bidding war for its star lot.

The event raised £2.7m from 16 lots, which is in line with previous results, but the proportion of lots sold is its lowest to date.

Director and auctioneer Simon Bailey said: “We have already got contracts out on a couple [of post-auction sales] and are negotiating on another two or three. I am surprised we are having these conversations with people now instead of them bidding on the day.”

Bailey said he expected the figure to end up between 70% and 80% taking into account post-auction sales.

The standout lot was a three-storey building in Pinner, Middlesex. Multiple bids raised its £375,000 guide to a £780,000 final price.

The sale took place on 15 October at Le Meridien Piccadilly, W1.
