Dublin selected as Mastercard’s European tech hub

Mastercard has picked Dublin to be its European tech hub while taking up a total of nearly 200,000 sq ft at Cyril McGuire’s South County Business Park.

The financial services firm will now occupy the whole of the 112,000 sq ft One South County office and 83,400 sq ft at Two South County.

Cyril McGuire fought off competition from a four-strong shortlist, which EG revealed last year.

The shortlist included the 950,000 sq ft Central Park campus; Singapore-headquartered Mapletree Investment’s 210,000 sq ft Sorting Office near Grand Canal Dock; and Aldgate Development’s 600,000 sq ft Sandyford scheme.

Mastercard currently occupies 40,000 sq ft in Green REIT’s Central Park, Leopardstown.

The expansion will create 1,500 jobs over three to five years to add to its 650-strong Mastercard Ireland workforce.

Ed McLaughlin, president of Mastercard operations and technology added: “Our Dublin tech hub is an innovation engine for our company across Europe and beyond, and we’re delighted to be expanding our technology footprint in the city.

“Our new campus will help us continue to attract the best and brightest tech talent, so that we stay on the forefront of emerging tech trends and are well positioned to forge the future of digital commerce across the globe.”
