DPP submits planning application for Liverpool regeneration

 

Manchester-based planning consultancy DPP has submitted a planning application for the £200m regeneration of Edge Lane Central, in Liverpool.

 

The plans outline the redevelopment of Edge Lane Retail Park as part of Derwent Holdings’ wider regeneration of the area, which is a major thoroughfare on the edge of Liverpool city centre.

 

The application comprises 890,000 sq ft of commercial development, including replacing the existing retail and leisure park with 47 retail outlets, four restaurants and three leisure units, plus public realm and 1,795 parking spaces.

 

DPP was appointed by Derwent Holdings in 2009 following a decade of disputes between Derwent and Liverpool city council over the future of Edge Lane.

 

The wider Edge Lane proposals include regeneration along a half-mile stretch of the road, including industrial space, an expansion of the Rathbone hospital, plus a new park.

 

Work could start on site in early 2011.
