Doughty Hanson sells Reading mall/office scheme for £70m

Doughty Hanson & Co Real Estate has sold Broad Street Mall, the shopping centre and office scheme in Reading, for over £70m to private investor Eliasz Englander’s Englander Group.

The fund manager acquired Broad Street Mall in June 2001.

It has since completed a £6m refurbishment programme – including a new food court, an anchor unit for New Look, an entrance and an internal refurbishment of the ground floor.

Broad Street Mall comprises 398,278 sq ft (37,000 sq m) of shops, around 75,349 sq ft (7,000 sq m) of offices and 750 car parking spaces.

Tenants include New Look, Virgin Megastore, Argos, TK Maxx, Game, Thomas Cook, Foot Locker, Adams childrenswear, Atlantic fashions and Superdrug.
